The City of North Port is located in Sarasota County in between Tampa and Fort Myers. It has a rich archaeological history and boasts more than 80 miles of freshwater canals. With a population of more than 90,000, North Port is a very young and vibrant community with a median age of just 48. Almost 10,000 children attend school in North Port.
Although North Port is not located directly on the Gulf of Mexico, residents and visitors enjoy its unique environment. Major beaches are only a 25 to 30 minute drive away and the Gulf of Mexico can be accessed by way of the Myakka River. The City’s Warm Mineral Springs is also a very popular attraction. At a temperature of 85 degrees, Warm Mineral Springs contains 9 million gallons of freshwater and is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Other family favorite activities include bird watching, kayaking, biking, and horseback riding.
North Port is home to the subdivision Wellen Park, which features 14 neighborhoods, downtown amenities, trails, and the Atlanta Braves baseball spring training complex.
