Punta Gorda Isles (PGI) is a deed-restricted, golfing, and waterfront community. Development began in 1957 and over the years, various phases were opened. There are fifty-five miles of canals within Punta Gorda Isles and over one hundred and ten miles of seawalls. What makes Punta Gorda Isles unique is the fact that these seawalls are the property of the PGI Canal Maintenance District, not the individual property owners. The City maintains the seawalls and seawall caps, and dredges the canals and canal inlets.
Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association (PGICA) is an organization that represents the interests of its residents. You can find a variety of activities to become involved in the community, such as boating, gardening, clubs, and recreational groups.
If you are an avid outdoor enthusiast, you will enjoy the many recreational activities Punta Gorda Isles has to offer, including bird-watching, kayaking, boating, and golfing. St. Andrews South Golf Club is a non-equity private club, located in the heart of Punta Gorda Isles. Founded in 1980, it is one of the oldest established clubs in the area and has a membership of 270. It is a Championship 18 hole, par 71 course and provides a challenge for players of all levels. If you are looking for shopping, dining, and live entertainment, be sure to stop by Fishermen’s Village Resort & Marina.
