The City of North Port is located in Sarasota County between Tampa and Fort Myers. It has a rich archaeological history and boasts more than 80 miles of freshwater canals. With a population of more than 94,000, North Port is a very young and vibrant community with a median age of just 48. Almost 10,000 children attend school in North Port.
Although North Port is not located directly on the Gulf of Mexico, residents and visitors enjoy its unique natural environment. Major beaches are only a 25-30 minute drive away and the Gulf of Mexico can be accessed by way of the Myakka River. The City’s Warm Mineral Springs is also a very popular attraction. At a temperature of 85 degrees, Warm Mineral Springs contains 9 million gallons of fresh water and is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Other family favorite activities include bird-watching, kayaking, biking, and horseback riding.
